Biography
Tim was born and raised in Rock Island. A graduate of Alleman High School, Tim enjoyed being involved with the band and helping out in the school's A/V room. Later Tim attended Hamilton Technical College and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Electronics. Straight out of college Tim took a position at Electronic Business Equipment, Inc. (EBE) in East Moline, IL where he started as a circuit level repair technician. The first PC he worked on had Microsoft DOS version 2.0, and 640Kb of memory was considered massive. During Tim's time with EBE he moved from Lab technician to Senior Systems Engineer (SE) in 1994. As an EBE SE, he worked with numerous Quad City area businesses to install and support networking systems. Tim accepted a position with the City of Rock Island in November of 1995 as a Network Administrator. Tim recall's that in 1995 the City's Internet connection was a dial up line and there were three Novell servers, one IBM RS/6000. "People asked me why we needed e-mail when I can just call?" Tim recalls. During the past 20 years with the City Tim has seen many changes in Information Technology (IT). In 2012 Tim returned to Hamilton Technical college to complete is bachelor's degree. Today as IT Director Tim still looks forward to coming to work every day and the interesting challenges of managing technology in a rapidly changing world.
